Wales trip 2023

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are excited to let you know that we have the opportunity for 8 students to attend an Outward Bound reward trip from the 20th – 24th March 2023. This will be a 4-night residential activity trip to the Aberdovey Centre, which will involve a number of outdoor activities. It is a fantastic opportunity for your child to build their confidence and teamwork, to try new things and push their comfort zone. We hope that this will be hugely beneficial to them on a personal level as well as being a lot of fun!

There will be no cost to you for this trip – transport, accommodation and all food and drink will be provided and any special dietary requirements will also be catered for.

Students will be selected to take part in this trip based upon their behaviour, attitude and attendance at Stone Soup Academy. We need to be able to trust the students to behave in a manner that is appropriate and we will not take any students who fail to meet this standard. This is also an opportunity for our students and staff to continue to build positive and meaningful relationships and we see it as an important aspect of our curriculum.

The students will be staying at Aberdovey in Snowdonia run by the Outward Bounds Trust for 4 nights; please note that 2 members of staff will be accompanying them and fully available at all times. However, we do ask that the named emergency contact (a parent or carer) be contactable at all times throughout the trip, including at night.

Please note that we do expect students to get wet and muddy while participating in activities. The activity centre is able to provide waterproofs, walking boots and/or wellington boots if necessary. If you are unable to provide these items then please contact the school and we will try to assist you.

The centre will be providing a full range of adventures activities. The kind of activities that may be possible for the trip.

Rock Climbing

Caving

Abseiling

Weaselling

High Ropes

Canoeing

Night hike

This programme is not fully confirmed and will of course be dependent upon weather.

As you can see, this will be a great opportunity for your child to learn new skills and take part in some great activities we cannot usually offer in school time.

Please share this information with your child so they can aim to be part of the trip. Names will be confirmed on 3rd March by the Principal.
