Careers Letter 23/24

Dear Parent/Carer,

At Stone Soup Academy, we are committed to providing the highest standard of Careers and Employability guidance to our students. Our Preparation for Adulthood Careers and Employability program is designed to empower students with transferable skills, equipping them to make informed decisions about their future education, employment, or training endeavours. Our overarching aspiration is to see all our young individuals embark on fulfilling and successful careers.

At Stone Soup Academy, your child is entitled to a range of valuable services, including:

  • Access to comprehensive information on qualifications, apprenticeships, and various educational pathways through our dedicated careers program.

  • Participation in option events and taster sessions to explore opportunities in technical education and apprenticeships.

  • Guidance on how to navigate the application process for academic and technical courses.

  • Personalised career counselling sessions with our experienced careers advisor, available whenever significant educational or career choices are being considered.

  • Opportunities to enhance employability skills, including crafting effective CVs and refining job application skills, as well as engagement with local employers.

In addition to these core services, our students have the privilege of experiencing:

Confetti College Visits: We arrange visits to Confetti, a specialised creative industry institute affiliated with Nottingham Trent University. Their Creative Quarter campus is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, studios, industry-connected tutors, and over 1600 dedicated students. Graduates of Confetti pursue careers in music, gaming, TV, film, live events, graphic design, and more. If your child has a passion for these subjects, we offer them the opportunity to explore this institution.

Visits to Higher Education (HE) Institutions: Our students have the chance to visit Nottingham Trent University, one of the largest and most influential higher education institutions in the country. NTU is committed to driving meaningful change, with a track record of prestigious awards for research, dynamism, and innovation. They embrace diversity and have a strong commitment to improving the prospects of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
